A handful of business titans, including philanthropist Bernie Marcus and Chick-fil-A Inc. President Dan Cathy, are financing their own version of health-care reform. They have put in more than $25 million to launch the Malizia Clinic, a tax-exempt, nonprofit urology practice that aims to take the rush out of medical care.

June 4, 2009 - Malizia Clinic Signs Lease at Piedmont West
Atlanta (June 4, 2009)—Malizia Clinic has signed a lease at Piedmont West—a multi-phased, mixed-use medical office park developed, owned, leased and managed by Carter, one of the country's leading full service commercial real estate firms. Developed in conjunction with Piedmont Hospital, Piedmont West addresses Piedmont Healthcare's strategic initiative to alleviate congestion at its main hospital campus at Peachtree and Collier roads. Malizia Clinic will occupy approximately 15,000 square feet of medical office space beginning the summer of 2009.

April 9, 2009 – Piedmont Outpatient Center Opens
Piedmont Profiles, Spring/Summer 2009 - Piedmont Outpatient Center at Piedmont West Medical Office Park on Howell Mill Road at Interstate 75 will be fully operational by May 2009. The center includes radiation oncology, imaging services and the Piedmont Cancer Center. Piedmont is leasing more than 91,000 square feet at the office park, which also will feature restaurants, retail space and 24-hour security.

Carter has completed phase I of its 7.5-acre Piedmont West project, which is located at 1800 Howell Mill Road off of Interstate 75. The impetus for the project was a strategic initiative from Piedmont Healthcare to decompress their main hospital campus.
